The goal of From Sea to Sea Enterprises is to promote Canadian history and music. It specializes in the history of Canada's provinces, federalism, and in Canadian traditional, popular, folk music, especially fiddle music.
From Sea to Sea Enterprises has produced a series of short histories of all of Canada's provinces and territories. A Short History of Manitoba was published in 1982, and has sold over 10,000 copies. A Short History of Alberta and A Short History of Saskatchewan were published in 2005. Since then we have published short histories of British Columbia (2006), Ontario (2007), Nova Scotia (2009), New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island (2010), and The Canadian North and Newfoundland and Labrador (2011), and Quebec (2012).
From Sea To Sea Enterprises is one of the few fully integrated publishing companies in Canada. We select the titles and do the research, writing, revision, editing, cover design, and publishing. Around half a dozen Canadian historians, regional experts, and editors read each book in draft, and our books have been used in universities and high schools. We market directly to over 600 stores and shops (counting chains such as Chapters as one store), have visited most of them, and know hundreds of our customers personally.
Our charitable work includes partnering with the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Association to donate 1,000 copies of Canadian Fiddle Music to fiddlers under the age of 20 who went to fiddle camps or contests anywhere in Canada. We have partnered with Canada's History to donate thousands of copies of our books to schools and libraries across Canada. We also provide complimentary copies of our provincial history books to the Senators, MPs and MLAs from each province - the better they understand our past, the better they will look after our future. Our company is registered under Ontario Master Business Licence number 150294890.
